The éS Game of SKATE Amatuer Series ended with the biggest tournament yet last Saturday in Simi Valley, California. Val Surf, the world's first skateboard shop, joined forces with Skatelab to present the final am éS Game of SKATE of the series.
With 116 skaters entered, the fun was fierce, and the competition was fiercer! Although skaters from all over California were entered, it was éS flow rider Mike Barker, local ripper Brahyan Lopez and recent New York transplant Daniel Hochman who made it to the final three.
Although all three had cruised through the previous six rounds, Lopez went out fairly quickly, while Barker and Hochman lasted until the score was T to T. It was Daniel Hochman who finally took out Mike Barker and made it to the éS Am National Championships in San Diego, coming up on Saturday, September 11.
éS Footwear is flying all the winners from all of the regional games to San Diego for the Finals, where they will be our guests for the weekend and receive passes to ASR, a gift and goodies backpack from éS, and spending money.
At San Diego, all the winners, from Tampa, Virginia Beach, Phiadelphia, New York, Boston, Chicago, Denver, San Diego, and several contests in Southern California will meet in the National Championships. The winner of that Game of SKATE will then be automatically seeded into Eric Koston's éS Game of SKATE to compete for $10,000 cash and the chance to make an instant name for himself.
Stay tuned for results after ASR weekend, or come on down, if you're in Southern California. Eric Koston's éS Game of SKATE is open to the public! The Amateur Game starts at 11:30 a.m., Koston's Game starts at 1:00 p.m., and the address is 111 West Harbor Drive, San Diego, California 92101. Amtrak's San Diego station is two blocks from the Convention Center, so it's convenient for everyone. See you there!
