Dutch éS Game of SKATE!

Posted January 10, 2005 by éS

On December 19, 2004, Left Distribution kicked-off the third Dutch éS Game of SKATE at the Yard Skatepark, an indoor facility in Utrecht, Holland. 175 skateboarders attended, which was the highest number in one day since it opened two years ago.

Ninety-four kids entered the Game of SKATE, and although it was pretty cold, they all showed off a lot of different tricks. The level of flatground skating has definitely risen since the first Game of SKATE in the Summer of 2003. The Game area featured two lanes with two judges each. Both lanes were decorated with éS banners, and Contract faces were spray-painted on the concrete floor to the side. (Thanks for the stencils, Mark!)
The contest started at 2:00 p.m. and the final round was at 6:00 p.m. Although that may seem like a very long time, everyone had a really good time competing and watching. Since the level of skating was so high, the battles were very pleasant for the judges and the crowd to watch.
The final battle between Dutch éS rider Ricardo Paterno and Sewa Kroetkov lasted quite a while, but Sewa finally took 1st place with a Caballerial kickflip. All in all, this was a very successful event. The reactions were all very positive, and everyone agreed Sewa was the best skater of the day.
