The Sydney leg of the 2006 éS Game of SKATE series, presented by PSC Skateshop and Slam magazine, was held at the new Waterloo Park in Sydney, Australia on a cool yet sunny Winter’s Saturday, June 24, 2006.
It went off without a hitch, thanks to the efforts of PSC Hornsby store’s Cameron Sparkes, PSC Burwood store’s The Twins and photographer extraordinaire Peter Daly, along with a very easygoing group of skaters, who were all just happy to be having a good time out in the early Winter sun. It was a nice, low-key event, which leads into the much-hyped éS Game of SKATE final, to be held in one month’s time at Riverside Park in Melbourne.
From a field of approximately 40 skaters, it all came down to one winner: Pete Dalmer from Kiama, on the NSW South Coast, who was basically an unknown and won on a fakie hardflip. Pete went home stoked with an oversized flight boarding pass (courtesy of éS Footwear), which allows him immediate entry into the Melbourne éS Game of SKATE final in July, as well as shoes and gear from éS Footwear.
The overall winner from July’s Melbourne Game wins an all-expenses-paid trip to the Action Sports Retailer trade show (ASR) in San Diego, California in September for the éS Game of SKATE Finals.
Congrats, Pete Dalmer...and good luck, mate! Thanks to the crew at the Fernside/Waterloo Park for having us and letting us do our thing, and to all the kids who showed up, entered and skated or just hung out and applauded each entrant. It was good times.--Brock Carpenter
