éS Game of SKATE Phoenix, Arizona Report

Posted June 30, 2006 by éS

The second éS Game of SKATE in the 2006 series was held at Pecos Skatepark in Phoenix, Arizona, in conjunction with Cowtown Skateboards. Trent, Ed and the Cowtown crew, along with the city of Phoenix, were very kind hosts to about 300 kids on a hot summer evening, June 14. At start time, it was only 99 degrees, which is about eight degrees cooler than our éS Game of SKATE in Phoenix in 2005.

As usual, the Phoenix skaters were killing it. Phoenix has always been a hotbed, and the young kids are keeping up that tradition. The vets like Colby Carter, Randy Colvin, Cody Boat and John DeLaCruz should be proud. Anyway, the top five came down to these rippers: James Link, Nick Fiorini, Carlos Lastra, Nick Trapasso and Paul Heeter. Although Paul was a favorite with the locals, he ended up in fifth place. Not bad for a starting field of 160 skaters! Nick Trapasso ended up in fourth, James was third, and the final came down to Carlos and Nick Fiorini.

Carlos had done most of the damage to James, Nick, and Paul with his cross-legged landings and sex change variations, and somehow Nick Fiorini managed to make enough of them to stay in the game. Once it was Nick’s turn, he pulled out switch hard flips, fakie hards, and fakie three-flips to put Carlos down and finally out.

Seven Games of SKATE later, this year’s Phoenix Am winner also earned a trip to the Action Sports Retailer trade show for the Amateur World Championships presented by Boost Mobile, and of course gear from éS plus a new phone from Boost! See you in San Diego, Nick.

  1. why can´t the és team come to Gothenburg, Sweden!? The last pro team we had here was the foundation team. And all they did was to drink.

  2. That's all the éS team would do. Just kidding. They don't even drink that much. Maybe it would be easier if you came to the éS team?
