For the second year in a row, Team Goofy showed Team Regular who's boss at the third annual GvR (Goofy vs. Regular) contest at the Skatepark of Lake Forest on Sunday, October 22. To be honest, it was a close call as the two teams almost tied when all was said in done. But, after the dust settled, Goofy, lead by pint-sized ripster and most valuable player Nyjah Huston, emerged victorious. The MVP for Regular was Ryan Sheckler and the Overall Best Skater was Jereme Rogers, for the second year in a row.
Some highlights of the day included Nyjah's heelflip front board down 11; Andrew Reynolds' full Cab down the double set, frontside flip over the handrail and nollie inward heel to nose manual across the Euro platform; Jereme's switch tré down the double set and Chris Cole's backside 360 kicklip down the 11-stair.
For the halftime entertainment, the Los Angeles Derby Dolls held a jousting match, which provided plenty of comic relief--not to mention quite an eyeful of short skirts and panties thrashing about.
On Saturday night, the Beastie Boys played in the parking lot for a crowd of several thousand at a massive GvR party. The three-day weekend also played host to a pool contest and a girls' contest. All in all, it was an insane weekend. Here's looking forward to next year, when Goofy will continue its reign of pure terror! RIGHT foot forward!
