éS Skateboarding

éS team riders Danny Garcia, Silas Baxter-Neal, The Skateboard Mag photographer Anthony Acosta and myself recently went on a mission down to the wonderful country of Peru in South America. The purpose of our 10-day excursion was to shoot a photo for an upcoming éS ad and do a demo.

Arriving in Lima, we were quickly in the good hands of our guides, Salvador Voysest and Felix Faucher. It was our first time in Peru, so Salvador quickly made us get screeched-in, or at least that's what they call it in Newfoundland. Well, anyway, rounds of plesiosaurs, I mean piscosours were going down fast.

We spent the first day checking out the city and hitting up the skateparks. From there, we were ready for our demo! About 300 excited Peruvian kids showed up at the skatepark in Miraflores, a neighborhood in Lima, to watch fellow Peruvian Danny Garcia and Irishman Silas Baxter-Neal dismantle the place. The guys demoed for about two hours and then headed down the street to sign some autographs at Aboriginal Skateshop.

The next few days were spent skating all over Lima, exploring and enjoying what the city had to offer--from mountaintop views of the city to the Inca markets to all the great skate spots and food, I guess you could say we had a fun time. Lima is a huge town. In fact, it’s the 19th most populated city in the world, with nearly eight million people.

With most big cities come killer skate spots, and in Lima, it’s no different. Felix had all the spots on lock and showed us a great time. We would like to thank everyone that came out for our demo and all the people who took care of us in Lima. We can't wait to go back there again.–Scuba Steve
