Yesterday we cut through the panhandle of Florida and headed through Alabama on the way to Atlanta, Georgia. Josh our local yelp expert found a nice lunch stop for us along the way in Montgomery.
We took Josh's memory card and downloaded his photos. Josh insisted we leave a night early and stop by his former residence of Las Vegas. Here are a couple flicks from the drive.
Mike Anderson is more of a man than most. Barely 21, newly a father and now Pro. As befits his personality, no star studded free booze mash up to celebrate but a return home to give props and thanks to the skateshop and community that raised him. Among friends and family and with thanks to Five Points Skateshop, Krooked, Thunder, Spitfire, Matix and éS. Mike signed autographs, posed for autographs, received many a hug and kept his grin maintained.
Look out for Justin Eldridge, Josh Mathews, Rick McCrank, Jimmy McDonald, Ben Raemers, John Rattray & Kevin Terpening in the South East of the good old US of A for the 'South By South East Tour' August 7th-21st.
For a full list of stops and other info, see the tour page & keep up by following the éS Twitter.
As far as the X-Games, éS is super proud of our very own Alexis Sablone, proving that her long term commitment to Skateboarding is still paying off with her Gold Medal win on Sunday.
A huge thanks to Rob Brink for threading us these images to use.
On Saturday while the masses gathered for X-Games 16, 8 of the éS team visited one of the spiritual homes of skateboarding. Val Surf the oldest running skate shop in the world combined with the park SkateLab (the premier museum on Skate culture) to present a demo by some of the éS team.
Here's a quick little edit of about half the tricks that got laid done beneath these hallowed walls. The demo was a great warm up session for the South by South East Tour which kicks off this weekend.
If you've never been, go witness the incredible history which speaks from their walls and rip the park while you're there, safe in the knowledge that the purity of skateboarding rests comfortably in Simi valley.
