Beards, tattoos and ping-pong are just a few fringe features associated with this eccentric Tasmanian Devil of the skateboarding world. Better known as “The Beast from the East,” Bobby Worrest started skating back in the mid 1990s in Germantown, Maryland and has since called Washington DC home.
A longtime Pitcrew local, he’s also repped Krooked skateboards and éS Footwear for quite some time now. When he's not tearing apart the ledges and dodging Park Police at Freedom Plaza in DC, you might be able to find him popping wheelies on his fixed-gear bike at the very same spot or making good use of a rainy day by adding on to his tattoo collection with work from Tattoo Paradise in Adams Morgan.
Riding for a board company run by the Gonz should be all that needs to be said about his skating, but for more proof of Bobby's advanced rolling plank prowess, look no further than his Krooked, Get Familiar and his soon-to-be classic video part in the new TransWorld video, Right Foot Forward.
After viewing Bobby's video parts, it'll be clear to see the impact DC locals have had on his skating. Technical, clean, perfect bolts landings and not afraid to tackle the grimy spots that require a bit of creativity to conquer while skating switch, there's no doubt why Bobby gets props from all the skate rats that look up to him and the skateboard industry alike.
The Gonz summed up Bobby's skating quite well when he said it was “pretty insane, man.” And if you're trying to figure out how you can get a perfect flick on your nollie flips like Bobby, a good start would be to pick up a pair or two of his first pro-model kicks, the First Blood, coming soon to a skate shop near you.
