éS Skateboarding

Born in upstate New York, Kellen never witnessed true skateboarding until the 6th grade when fate intervened and his family relocated to San Diego, CA. He soon found himself shredding his local streets on a donated board from his friend, Ryan, with a deck that consisted of sand paper his dad gave him for grip tape. Swiftly immersed in a new lifestyle and culture, Kellen was soon skating with San Diego local alumni, Tommy Sandoval, Larelle Gray, Gabe De La Mora and Jimmy Carlin. Kellen’s claim to San Diego heritage was rapidly established and he never looked back at his ultimate push towards achieving professional status.

Between Pacific Drive and Street Machine skate shops in San Diego, whom Kellen rode and worked for between 2002 and 2007, the local scene gave back and embraced him as one of their finest. Soon, a San Francisco connection emerged with support from Ando at FTC and Western Edition. With a keen eye for opportunities, Kellen was soon approached by friends Josh Priebs and Dan Connelly to contribute to the birth of Sk8Mafia and the KJ-Kellogg’s graphic sealed the deal to Pro status in 2008. Kellen continues his push and is featured regularly on the widely popular, Sk8Mafia Saturdays along with a Battle Commander at the Berrics under his belt. Kellen’s move to the éS team was sealed right after the completion of Transworld’s Right Foot Forward in 2009.

Kellen skates smooth and calmly, like his demeanor, which reveals the patience and persistence he’s shown in a long career as a San Diego local which is now gaining global recognition. His musical tastes range from Iron Maiden to Tracy Chapman, without ever neglecting Bob Marley. In his lucky color, Burgundy, Kellen’s going global for 2010 and will be racking up stamps in his newly inaugurated passport. Kellen reps: éS, JSLV, Sk8Mafia and San Diego, hard!
