From May 30th - June 12th, the éS Skateboarding team will be coming ‘To Europe With Love’.
Mark Frölich
What if there was an award for Europe's most determined skateboarder? Would Mark win it hands down? How could anyone beat his 13 minute-part in the Done video? How else does one collect determination points? Maybe, moving away from home to be able to skate every day under ideal conditions? Or, skating at an insanely high level despite some serious nutritional problems? Mark scores in all the categories.
Determination and obsession go hand-in-hand and Mark is no exception to that rule. He is known for his temper tantrums and to be defeated by a trick or spot can ruin Marks day, but despite the occasional frustration, Mark is deeply in love with skateboarding.
Mark started skating at the tender age of 11 in his hometown of Wuppertal, Germany, smack in-the-middle of the industrialized Ruhrpott, Wuppertal, which is a rough town to grow up in. Fortunately, for Mark, there has always been a healthy skate scene and solid indoor options for the long and cold winters in Wu-Tal. After having risen to the top of the German skate scene, Mark needed room to keep growing and moved to Barcelona, Spain to be able to skate near perfect spots every day. The three-song part in the Done video that he produced together with his roommate Lucas Fiederling is proof that Mark has not fallen victim to the party lifestyle that seems to govern a lot of skaters lives in the Catalan metropolis. Mark will skate any spot that is put under his wheels, big or tech, rail or bank, manny pad or transition, Mark does not shy away from a challenge.
As unlikely as it sounds, Mark has some interests outside of skateboarding. He has been playing the drums since he was six years old and can bust out some decent chords on a guitar. A game of Dart and a glass of good whiskey help Mark wind down after a hectic day on his skateboard and he likes to spend time with his girlfriend and his family.
